Vascular diseases are the second most common cause of dementia after Alzheimer&#8217;s disease and often also contribute to the progression of primary neurodegenerative dementia. While therapeutic breakthroughs in the neurodegenerative causes of dementia are still a long way off, improvements in the field of vascular prevention and stroke treatment offer new and effective approaches to the prevention of dementia. As more recent data show, the risk of dementia in this patient group can be almost halved by consistent anticoagulation of patients with atrial fibrillation, for example. The latest findings on the epidemiology and vascular mechanisms of dementia, on high-risk populations and on causal therapeutic approaches are the subject of lively debate and will be discussed alongside new diagnostic criteria at a one-day scientific symposium with leading international experts on the fringes of the World Health Summit.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldhealthsummit.org\/satellites\/dementia-stroke-prevention.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">You can register here<\/a>.
